Accounting & Tax Filing

As a charity or not-for-profit organization you have a unique set of accounting standards that you are required to follow. Understanding the differences between for-profit and not-for-profit accounting is the first step.

Whether you are government funded or run off of community support and donations we understand the complexities that can arrive with your accounting and are here to help you.

We offer training to our clients so that they can maintain their own set of books and records throughout the year. We start by gaining an understanding of your organization and the accounting regulations that you fall into. Then we show you how to track your revenues and expenditures based on how you receive funding and restrictions that may be attached to funding received.

We can also advice you on whether or not you are required to charge HST on any of the services you provide. Charity and not-for-profit organizations fall under a different set of regulations and filing requirements when it comes to HST. Our professional team can assist you in determining your requirements.

In addition to accounting advice we also educate our clients on their filing responsibilities with the Canada Revenue Agency. While you may not have profit and are tax exempt, you may fall under the regulations that require you to file either a charity or not-for-profit tax return.

Our professional staff is experienced in these specialized tax filing requirements and can assist you in staying compliant with these rules and regulations.
